The Late Catherine Washington - Our First Woman of Honor!
Catherine Washington was a loving mother to two boys, Daniel (Danny) and Lanakila, the
editor & chief of this magazine along with two grandsons. Catherine was born on January 21, 1942 to another
empowered woman, Ola Paradise. She raised her boys just as she was raised, to be
proud, empowered as a person and to love everyone.
Catherine dedicated her life to saving lives in New York's famous Harlem Hospital for 25
years. In fact, she was rewarded for her efforts in being on the front lines to save the
hospitals from going private back in 1998-1999. She received the Steven Smith award,
the first nurses aid to receive an award only given to doctors. Catherine was loved by
all because she loved all and we forever honor her life.
There is a "my space" page being constructed in her honor and a foundation which we
hope to file for non-profit status in the near future. You can go to the site or check back
with us for updates and progress notes. Catherine Washington, We honor you today and
forever.
